Sardinia is the second-largest island in the Mediterranean, and boasts arguably the most spectacular coastline in all of Europe - it is one of the most popular destinations for yacht charters in the Mediterranean. About 120 miles west of mainland Italy, Sardinia is one of the most ancient lands in Europe, with human inhabitance dating back to 6000 BC.

The island of Sardinia is a place for adventurers, nature lovers, luxury yacht charters and those who just want to escape for a while. The coast is filled with gorgeous beaches, in the north you will find the translucent green waters of Costa Smerelda, to the south, and the white sands of Cagliari. Tourist harbors line the coastline, offering charter yachts easy access to these beachside towns and villages. Do not miss visiting the caves, whether in the sea or up in the mountains, they offer spectacular geologic formations. The two most famous are Is Zuddas and S. Michele di Ozieri.

Sardinia´s coastline is extremely diverse - hundreds of private coves and stunning beaches with crystal clear waters in every shade from green to blue on the east coast change into dramatic rock formations in the north while the west coast surprises with the mesmerising dunes of the Costa Verde. There are many magnificent places to see on your luxury yacht charter in Sardinia.
Ports and yacht charter destinations:
Cagliari
____________________________
Cagliari is Sardinia's main port and capital, located on the south side of the island, with one of the largest fish markets (Mercato di San Benedetto) in Italy. The city sports an interesting mix of modern and medieval history. In the old part of the city, you will find the St. Pancras Tower and Elephant Tower, built in the 13th century and offering a majestic view of the Gulf of Cagliari. The famous Sardinian Paleo-Christian monument, the Basilica di San Saturnino, dates back to the 5th century.
Porto Cervo
____________________________
Porto Cervo is a resort village on the northeast side of Sardinia and a stop for many yacht charters in the area. The marina is consistently home to the mega yachts of the glitterati. The village was built from scratch in the 1960's to take advantage of the proximity to alluring green waters of Costa Smerelda. Built with a medieval Moorish flairby top Italian and French architects hired by a Muslim prince, the village is a luxury getaway for the political, business, sports and movie elite.

Stintino
____________________________
Stintino is an old charming fishing village overlooking the Gulf of Asinara.
Stintino boasts one of the most beautiful beaches in Sardinia - "Pelosa". Its turquoise color, transparency and the finest white sand make "Pelosa" beach more similar to tropical places rather than Mediterranean ones.
Only a short boat trip from Stintino there are nearby Islands of Piana
and Asinara. The tiny Island of Piana is home to a solitary watchtower whilst
the larger Asinara was granted national park status at the end of the 1990s in
an effort to allow wildlife to flourish and has restricted access.

Alghero
____________________________
Located on the northwest coast of Sardinia, Alghero has become a major holiday and yacht charter destination in recent years and yet still retains its distinctive Catalan character.
Alghero is recognized to be the most Italian of the holiday towns in Sardinia with an old town center on the seafront consisting of a labyrinthic network of narrow lanes, most of which are car free. These play host to numerous hotels, bars, cafes and restaurants that preserve Alghero's reputation for excellent seafood.

Grotte di Nettuno
____________________________
The famous cave complex of Grotta di Nettuno (Neptune's Grotto) is located 15km west of Alghero on the peninsular of Capo Caccia and is one of the most spectacular cave complexes in Italy and a very popular tourist destination and a stop on most yacht charters in Sardinia.
Near the Gotte di Nettuno, you will find many other, similarly majestic sea caves, including the Nereo Cave, popular with scuba divers.

Carloforte
____________________________
Carloforte was founded in 1738 by Ligurian fishermen. Dominated by the belltower of San Carlo, Carloforte is one of the most characteristic fishing villages on the island, with its bastions and defense walls, memories of the ever present pirate threat - it is also a very popular stop for yacht charters in Sardinia.

Costa Verde
____________________________
Looking to get away from the chaos at Costa Smerelda? Costa Verde is called the "silent coast" for its quiet beach hideaways. Located in the Arbus municipality on the western side of Sardinia, this former mining community will allow you a peaceful and quiet yacht charter among the long stretches of sandy coastline.
