Corsica is an island of France with steep, rugged mountains. For yacht charters there are beautiful anchorages, set within a stunning backdrop of grey and rocky coastlines. Corsica is associated with luxury and sophistication, yet it remains largely unspoiled by modern man. On your yacht charter you will cruise the breathtakingly beautiful west coastline of Corsica, from Calvi to Bonifacio, and anchor in the deep bays alongside the charming fishing villages that line the route.
Corsica is the ideal place for yacht charters as its coastline curls around 1000km of beautiful seaside towns like Ajaccio, plunging cliffs at Golfe de Porto and glistening beaches and bays at Calvi. The silhouette of Bonifacio's cliff-top citadel morphs seamlessly into the serrated limestone cliffs rising up from the sea.
Corsica is famed as the birthplace of Napoléon Bonaparte.

Corsica is one of most popular destinations for yacht charters in the world.
Ports and yacht charter destinations:
AJACCIO - western Corsica

Ajaccio is the birthplace of Napoleon Bonaparte - this will not escape your attention on a visit to the town, as you pass the house where he was born - now the National Bonaparte Museum - the caves where he played, and statues of Napoleon and streets and places named in his honor.
The region outside the town has several highly rated beaches.
A very popular yacht trip from Ajaccio is to the Isles Sanguinaires with stunning, Homerian red rocks dramatically silhouetted against the blue sky - well worth visiting on your yacht charter. The islands are a designated reserve for sea birds and other wildlife.

BONIFACIO - southern Corsica

The old town of Bonifacio is the oldest town in Corsica and also considered the most beautiful town on the island and the must stop on most yacht charters. It is located high on the cliffs above a natural harbor on the site of a 9th century citadel.
Bonifacio is also the ideal starting location for a yacht charter to explore the Bonifacio channel and Lavezzi Islands in Sardinia, which are classified as a natural reserve.

CALVI - northeast Corsica

The port town of Calvi combines the intrigue of traditional Corsican culture and comforts of a modern resort area. Picturesque views of nature’s scenic beauty are seemingly everywhere you turn.
With its lofty citadel, superb cuisine and five-mile beach, Calvi is one of the prettiest towns in Corsica and one of the stops for most yacht charters.

PORTO-VECCHIO - southern Corsica

Porto-Vecchio is a town built on salt marshes and it is often called "the city of salt".
The marina area is very attractive, with cafes and restaurants overlooking the harbor, and the old town next to the Place de la Republique has some lovely ancient buildings pressing in on narrow streets. Some of the most beautiful beaches in Corsica are located to the south of the town, including Palombaggia, a beach internationally renowned for its beauty. Many yacht charters stop here to explore the old town and enjoy the beautiful beaches.

SCANDOLA NATURAL RESERVE
____________________________
The Scandola Natural Reserve (created 1975) is a World Heritage Site found to the north east of Calvi, on the Cape Girolata peninsula. The reserve is a popular stop on yacht charters in Corsica.
Strange rock formations emerge from the crystal clear sea in the Gulf of Girolata, and the coastline is peppered with jagged inlets and caves. The scenery is always beautiful but especially so later in the afternoon, as the rocks catch the setting sun. Set against the blue of the sea and sky, the colous and shapes are an extraordinary sight.
The Scandola region also has a wide range of sea birds - including cormorants and giant gulls - that benefit from the protected environment. There are also established seal and dolphin colonies.
